What Is our Youth Ministry All About?
Have you ever wondered what our youth ministry is all about? This booklet is designed to help you understand why our youth group exists! Our desire is to serve you, the parents, as you seek to disciple your students to maturity in Christ. I hope that you’ll find the next few pages helpful as you get to know how we seek to accomplish that.
The number one reason that we are here doing ministry is to fulfill the Great Commission. Matthew 28:19-20 says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” We believe that the Great Commission is a commandment for us to carry out. We are God’s chosen carriers of the Good News. Simply put, we exist to make students into disciples of Christ.
Working with clay
If our vision is to make students into disciples of Christ, how we carry out that vision is our strategy. Our strategy has three parts: Winning students to Christ through peer evangelism, Building students up into a mature faith in Christ, and Equipping students with the skills they need to minister to their peers.
Our strategy is to design specific ministries that target winning, building, or equipping students so that all students are ministered to at their level of interest and challenged to make a deeper commitment to Christ.
That means that every ministry or activity that we do as a ministry has a defined purpose, and is designed to reach a specific type of student. This means that not every Heir Born ministry or activity is right for every student, which is a key part of understanding our ministry. We seek to reach all kinds of students, but not all at once. The apostle Paul was very specific in what he did in ministry in order to reach “all men…so they may be saved” (1 Cor. 10:33). We try to reach “all students” by targeting specific students with ministries designed to meet them at their level of spiritual interest.
Again, we hope that this booklet is helpful to you. We value you and your student and we want you to know exactly what Heir Born Student Ministries are about!
Nothing excites us more than to see young people following Christ daily and experiencing the joy and fulfillment that only comes from Him. Our ministry is blessed to have a great adult youth staff and together as a team we aim to serve you and your student. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to serve you better!
